Lighted Path

I walked up to a friend that I hadn’t physically seen in a long time, hugging her from behind. She swung her body around on the chair that she was sitting on, to see who it was. I kneeled beside her holding her hand, smiled, and asked how she was. The look on her face got me. It was one of such delight yet questioning. It was then that she paid me a compliment that I had never received before. She said, “Shyann your energy is so positive and light. When you embraced me, all I could feel was positivity, love, and joy.” Looking into my eyes she said, “There is just light radiating through you.”

Truthfully, I was a bit perturbed because I didn’t understand how she could sense all that before she even saw who it was that hugged her, or even before looking at my countenance. This experience sat on my mind like her sitting on that chair.
The next morning when I woke up, I remembered her comment. Sitting at the side of the bed in worship, humming “His eye is on the sparrow”, my eyes glimpsed a scripture I had written down the previous morning. It said, “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day,” – Proverbs 4:18 NIV.

You see my friends, in the past year, I have come into full awareness of the light that the Lord is shining on me. Before, every little thing would perturb me. I was in a constant emotional battle with myself and others. But now, I have gotten a better understanding of what God’s light shining on me means. What his constant and true love for me means. This has changed my mindset. I know my God is constantly watching over me. His eyes never gaze. Despite life’s challenges, He is still with me and honors my sacrifices and obedience. So, every day, I position myself in an expectant place, waiting for my father to unbox gift after gift for me. I am now joyful in the Lord instead of just being happy because of circumstances.
Today, I want to encourage someone. Start walking in the awareness of the light that your God is shining on you. He promises that his light will shine brighter and brighter on you, lighting your path with each passing day. Your life will only get better.
Get pregnant with his promises, waiting expectantly for your gifts and breakthroughs. Refuse to allow any circumstances to keep you in a dark place. Be positive and expectant of his forever favor (Psalm 30:5). Stay in a place of peace.
