A few months ago, I noticed one of my backyard plants bent over like it had pulled an all-nighter or lost a fight with gravity. I assumed it was just reaching for sunlight, like someone stretching for the last slice of pizza on a crowded table. But today, on my usual stroll, I saw something surprising. That plant wasn’t just bowing under pressure—it had given birth! That bend wasn’t defeat; it was a setup to produce a brand-new, spiky little shoot.
How often do we feel like that plant? Life comes at us hard, and suddenly we’re bent over, feeling like we’re one bad day away from becoming as useful as a broken umbrella. But what if that bending isn’t the end? What if it’s God’s way of helping us grow something new? When we surrender to Him, our struggles aren’t wasted—they become the labor pains of perseverance, resilience, and strength. As James 1:2-4 says:
“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”
Sure, life has its tough seasons, and we’ll all feel the weight pressing us down at times. But with Jesus, even those moments can birth joy, peace, and blessings we didn’t expect. Remember His words in John 16:33:
“In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
So, my friend, the next time life bends you like a garden hose on a hot day, don’t despair. You’re not about to break—you’re about to bloom. You are about to give birth! Keep trusting, because that bend just might be the start of something extraordinary. If a plant can birth a blessing in the middle of a partially shady spot, so can you!
